Using technologies to understand travellers and to design city better

This work focuses on exploring one's travel behaviours and choices, his/her cognitive loads and different complexity of road interactions.

Using VR technologies, real life and laboratory experiment observations, and biometric sensors, we will explore how on different road users' interaction and cognitive loads, would trigger different behavioural reactions whilst travelling. In particular, we will focus on e-scooter users and remote driving for professional truck driver (the later one will be carried out in collaboration with KTH ITRL). The output of these experiments will help us to revisit the current transport planning and urban design guidelines, and also guideline on how shall we design a better, human centred, future city.
